Create an edition
Turn an artwork into something you can sell — an original, a limited run, or an open edition.
Updated July 23, 2026
An edition is the sellable unit on ManageCanvas. Before you can price or sell a piece, you give it at least one edition. (New to the idea? Read What is an edition? first.)
Open the Editions panel
- Open the artwork from Studio → Gallery.
- Scroll to the Editions panel in the artwork editor.
Choose the kind
Click Create edition and pick the kind:
- Original — a single, one-of-a-kind work. The edition is exactly one.
- Limited — a fixed, numbered run. You set the size (say, 30), and ManageCanvas creates numbered items 1 through 30.
- Open — printed to order, uncapped, and not numbered.
Fill in the details
- Label — an optional variant name (e.g. "Gallery print").
- Size — the physical dimensions (e.g. 18 × 24 in).
- Price — what a buyer pays.
- Description — what makes this edition special (paper, framing, finish) — shown publicly.
- Certificate delivery — whether each sale's certificate is included, emailed, or mailed.
Save
Save the edition. For a limited run, ManageCanvas generates every numbered item at once and issues a certificate for each. Your storefront then shows availability like "30 of 30 available," counting down as pieces sell.
Remember: the edition size you set is a promise to collectors. Manage that edition only on ManageCanvas so the promise stays true — see What is an edition?.
Next
- Issue and deliver the certificates for your new edition.
- Connect a payment method so buyers can purchase it.
