How an online sale works
From a buyer's checkout to your payout and the buyer's certificate.
Updated July 23, 2026
Selling on ManageCanvas is direct: the buyer pays you through your own payment account, and you stay in control of fulfilment. Here's the full path.
Before you can sell
- Connect a payment method (Stripe or Square).
- Create an edition with a price on the piece.
- Optionally set up shipping.
The buyer's checkout
On your public site, a buyer opens a piece and clicks to buy. Depending on how you've set the edition up, they either check out instantly or pick shipping first (for live-rate or made-to-order items).
Payment is handled by Stripe or Square — the buyer's card details never touch ManageCanvas, and the money goes directly to your connected account.
The order
Every purchase creates an order under Business → Sales, with the item, amounts, shipping, and buyer details. Mark it fulfilled once you ship.
Certificate and provenance
When a numbered piece sells, its certificate of authenticity is assigned to the buyer, recording ownership. That's the provenance trail that makes a ManageCanvas sale trustworthy — see Certificates of authenticity.
Payouts
Payouts land in your bank on Stripe's or Square's normal schedule. ManageCanvas never holds your funds.
